Fine quality 18th century George 3rd mahogany chest of drawers signed and dated by the makers on the underside of one of the drawers. 2 over 3 drawer configuration, the drawers with cock beaded edges, original steel locks and original brass swan neck handles. The drawers are all oak lined. The chest stands on lovely shaped bracket feet with carved decoration to the front ones.
The top left hand small drawer is signed by the maker to the underside and dated April 16th 1789. Not stamped but I would personally attribute this chest to Gillows of Lancaster going by its quality and drawer construction.
The chest is in good overall condition but there is very minor old fire damage to the underside of the mould at the front that you can hardly see probably caused by a candle.
The chest is a nice original colour with waxed finish.
