Rare small size, only 34 1/2" wide, 18th century mahogany serpentine shape scretaire chest of drawers. Amost certainly Dutch in origin made in the last quarter of the 18th century. Deep serpentine shaped front with three drawers, the top of which is a fitted secretaire drawer. Canted corners with blind fretted decoration. The drawers are mahogany lined with contempory but not original brass swan neck handles. The chest stands on nice shape bracket feet. The secretaire drawer is very nicely fitted inside with a series of drawers and pigeon holes. The small drawers are again all mahogany lined with rosewood cross banding to the outside. The chest has been recently polished and waxed. I don't think I have ever seen a period serpentine chest this small before.
