Superb, large size late Regency / William IV mahogany 10 drawer writing desk or table. The table stands on nicely turned legs with carved decoration and lovely original brass castors. The table consists of 6 proper drawers (3 to each long side) and 4 dummy drawers (2 to each end). The drawers all have cock beaded edges, original brass locks and original turned wooden knobs. The real drawers are all mahogany lined. The table has an astragal moulding all round the bottom edge.
The top has a lovely ogee thumb moulding around the edge with thin banding before a superb old green and gilt tooled leather. Probably not original but certainly with some age.
The table is in very good condition and is a nice colour with original finish and good patination.
I can't say I have ever seen a desk of this size with 10 drawers before, i.e. exact dummy drawers to the sides.
