Fine quality 18th century George 3rd mahogany 'D' shaped fold over tea table in the manner of Gillows of Lancaster. Great timbers used throughout. The table stands on finely turned and reeded legs with double gates to the back for holding the top when fully open. Cross grain flame mahogany veneered freize with astragal moulding. Nice shape thumb moulding around the edge of the top. Original brass hinges.
The table is a lovely colour with waxed finish to the base, the top on the outside has been sympathetically re-polished. There is a small very old repair to the top that is not visible at all on the outside but is slightly visible on the inside.
Altogether this is a very nice example of an 18th century tea table. Lovely shape and a cut above the normal.
